ICI Candidate SELECTION PROCESS

Dear Comrades,

Thank you to everyone who applied to stand as a candidate with Islington Community Independents (ICI) in the May 2026 local elections.

We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm, knowledge and commitment shown by residents across Islington who share our vision for a fairer and more inclusive borough.

Applications closed on Friday 7 November 2025, and the selection process is now underway. No candidates have yet been confirmed.

Next Steps:

Interviews:  

All applicants will be interviewed by a panel to ensure their eligibility and compatibility with ICI’s aims and values. 

Democratic Selections:

All applicants who pass the interview stage will be invited to attend a democratic selection meeting, at which ICI registered supporters will vote for their preferred candidates. 

The entire candidate selection process is scheduled to by completed by Friday 19 December 2025. 

When candidates are selected, they will stand as Islington Community Independents, a group of local residents and independent councillors working together in Islington with the public support of Jeremy Corbyn MP.

Our focus remains on building from the ground up, ensuring that decisions in Islington are shaped by the people who live and work here.
